The road from Yerevan to Tbilisi can be more than just transportation — it can be a fascinating journey. By traveling through Lake Sevan and the city of Dilijan, you’ll discover some of Armenia’s hidden gems.

Route Yerevan – Tbilisi

 

1. Lake Sevan

Lake Sevan is the largest lake in the Caucasus and one of Armenia’s most stunning natural wonders, sitting at almost 1,900 meters above sea level. Here you can:

  • climb to the Sevanavank Monastery;

  • enjoy breathtaking views of the lake;

  • try the famous Sevan trout (Ishkhan).

2. Dilijan

Often called the “Armenian Switzerland,” Dilijan is surrounded by lush forests and mountains. Highlights include:

  • the historic Old Town with craft workshops;

  • Goshavank or Haghartsin Monasteries;

  • Dilijan National Park with its scenic hiking trails.

3. Towards the Georgian border

After Dilijan, the road continues through mountain passes and picturesque gorges. Before crossing the border, travelers often stop for a short rest.

4. Arrival in Georgia

Once across the border, the journey takes you through charming Georgian villages and rolling landscapes of Kakheti before reaching Tbilisi.
